WHAT IS SOMATIC YOGA? Somatic yoga is a beautiful way to slow down, tune in, and truly listen to your body. The word soma means "of the body," and this practice is all about exploring how you feel from the inside out. It's not about how the poses look or "getting it right." Instead, it's about letting your body guide you and finding ease and comfort in every movement. Think of it like this: we all have patterns—ways we move, hold tension, or react without realizing it. Maybe your shoulders tighten when you're stressed, or your breath shortens when you're rushed. Somatic yoga helps you notice these patterns, reconnect with your body, and move with greater awareness and ease. WHAT TO EXPECT IN CLASS In a somatic yoga class, you'll be invited to move mindfully, paying attention to the sensations in your body as you flow through poses. It’s a bit like a moving meditation. I’ll guide you to explore questions like: How does this movement feel in my body? Where am I holding tension, and can I let it soften? How can I make this pose feel steadier or more easeful? It’s a practice of curiosity, not perfection. You’ll also notice your breath, your thoughts, and how they connect to what’s happening in your body. This awareness is incredibly grounding and healing. WHY PRACTICE SOMATIC YOGA? This practice has so many wonderful benefits.
